Point of Order
I’ve just embarked on this grand, academic conversation with myself and I’m already starting to wonder if I’ve asked the right question. I think it is appropriately narrow to focus my attention on the Internet (an attempt to answer the question, “What does the Internet mean to me?”); however, it is dually important for me to consider the Internet as part of a larger conversation…TECHNOLOGY. Then, the question should occasionally become, “What does technology mean to me?” Metaphorically, technology is the umbrella and the Internet is one of the spokes. I just needed to get that off my chest so the possibility of asking this broader question will make sense within the perspective I’ve already proposed.
